The air in Nina's Phoenix apartment hangs heavy and still, every surface warm to the touch as the heat wave presses in from outside. She hears the quiet knock at the door and feels the shift in the room when her neighbor steps inside to help. Their glances linger longer than they should, the silence between them growing charged with every passing moment. What begins as a simple fix soon turns into something neither of them planned, a slow dance of nearness and restraint that leaves her breathless. By the time morning light filters through the blinds, the question lingers in the air: will he return?
